The news of Charlie Kirk’s death has left me heartbroken. Charlie Kirk, just 31 years old with a wife and two young children, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point USA event. He was doing what he loved—engaging young minds and defending the values that shaped this nation as well as sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His death is not only a personal loss to this nation but a spiritual one. A candle has been snuffed out in a room that desperately needed its glow.
Charlie’s mission was divinely inspired by God. He didn’t shy away from the Gospel. He didn’t dilute truth to make it more palatable. He stood firm, even when it cost him popularity, comfort, and, ultimately, his life. He reminded us that being salt and light in the world means stepping into uncomfortable places and speaking truth with love and courage. In a world that tries to tell us we need to show love by keeping quiet, he showed love by respecting those he spoke with but still telling them the truth.
College campuses today are battlegrounds—not just of ideas, but a spiritual war for countless Christians.
