A Season to Look Ahead

The new year is upon us. What have we learned in 2016? Many set New Year’s resolutions and never keep them. But years ago, I purposed in my heart that I would only set resolutions that were vital and important enough, the desire would last the year through. Here are a few things, I want to be sure about, want to keep as vital intentions through 2017:

remember-free

  • Look back, but only to remember and learn from our failures, mistakes and blunders. Don’t belabor the fact, but accept that they happened and you’ve moved on. Gain knowledge that you can and will do better, that you’ll not be caught in the same situation. Remember fondly the good moments, the blessings, and write them down in your mental book as special blessings from God, and know that He loves you!

faith-free

  • Look Ahead for the prospect of good things. Surely God will see our distress, or problems or worry and will see fit to give us a little breathing room of faith and peace.

We know that God sees all, understands far more than we do, and loves us. We can depend on him to work his will in our lives, as long as our hearts are open. He knows our deepest distresses, our worst problems and the worry that is neither good nor healthy for us. Good things are ahead! Hold on. Have faith. Trust.

dictionary-free

  • Look ahead for Improvement. There is always room for improvement. Never stop learning. Never stop growing. There are numerous things we can learn each day. Greet them with eagerness. Open your eyes and hearts to something new in 2017.

jesus-return-free

  • Look for His return.  Jesus promised to return for us. We must believe and trust that in his timing, it will be done. Search our hearts with open hearts. Be prepared. Wait with abated breath for his coming. And work until that day arrives!

Looking ahead and wishing all of you a very happy New Year!
