Look What God has Done

When the Honey-Bunny’s (Daddy’s nickname for his girls) get together, things happen.
My sister, Marlene and I were heading from Wisconsin to Florida where our younger sister Marvel lived. Near Nashville, the GPS went wacky, directing continuous turns around a deserted gas station. Finally I pulled in, yanking out maps, when a southern drawl called, “Y’all need help? Where are you headed?” Neither of us had seen a car there, but his chuckle indicated he’d watched my red Vibe do the loop-de-loop. “Gonna be night soon. You can always see Nashville on the way back,“ he suggested, pointing us to Cumberland Gap Highway and Asheville.
The moment the car glided onto the Cumberland ramp, the GPS worked fine. Huh.
Marlene drove and I photographed beautiful scenery until black clouds rolled toward us, and blew overhead. The next morning’s news shockingly revealed disastrous flooding we’d escaped in Nashville. We prayed for those affected and wondered again at the GPS insanity and the mysterious man’s directions, feeling it was a miracle that we had been directed away from disaster.
I always document what God did so in future times of struggle I can cut off the enemy’s taunts, and remind myself: if God rescued me before, if He brought me through deep waters, if He helped me to bless someone else, I can live expectantly, knowing He will do it again.
Daniel 4:2: It has seemed good to me to declare the signs and wonders which the Most High God has done for me.

Is God still doing miracles today? Of course He is, and the stories in this little book are proof. If you’ve ever had someone say to you, “I don’t know why, but God wants me to . . . ” and then shared something that fulfilled a specific need, or answered a specific prayer request, you’ve known the feeling of amazement shared here. When you’ve been unable to explain the timing or circumstances of those events by natural means, you know why the author and those who shared these happenings call them miracles.
Whether we title these unexplainable happenings miracles, God-sightings, or some other name, people love to hear of such occurrences. Why? They increase our faith by providing evidence of the miraculous in our everyday lives and heighten awareness of God’s desire to minister as personally to us and through us.
Unique connecting verses, defining thought, key words, and personal challenges will help the readers go beyond the “good for her” feeling and bring each story’s teaching to life in their own daily walk. Many will find comfort knowing they are not alone in hearing God’s voice or direction. Others also will deepen their walk with God, gain the courage to listen for God’s voice, be a noticer of others’ needs, and practice hearing and answering God’s call to deliver a specific answer to a specific person.
Sometimes walking in faith seems risky because it means obeying even if the directions don’t seem to make sense. When Abraham brought Isaac in faith up the mountain for a sacrifice, he risked all believing that God’s character would not fail him. God did keep His promise and provided a lamb, and Abraham passed the test of trust and faithfulness.
What do we risk daily for the Lord? These life-vignettes encourage readers that risking embarrassment is a small price for the incredible joy of seeing God work over and over again.
