I loved Jill Eileen Smith’s series on the wives of David, so I had high expectations for this novel, the first in the series of Wives of the Patriarchs. I was concerned that the author couldn’t hold my interest the way she did with the other series. Afterall David is such a colorful Biblical figure. I didn’t have to be concerned. Sarai was awesome, a truly great read. Jill Eileen Smith has done it again.

One thing I love about this novel as well as every novel Smith writes is that I could put myself in Sarai’s place. If I were in the same circumstances, I might react the same way doing everything I could think of to try to provide the son promised by God. Sarai comes alive as a flesh and bone women going through a difficult time waiting for the promise to arrive. I can’t wait for the other novels in the series. I highly recommend Sarai.
