Word Sharpener Week

AChristmasPromise_medVerse of the Week: Matthew 2:1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived unexpectedly in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” HCSB

Quote of the Week: “The magi, as you know, were wise men–wonderfully wise men–who brought gifts to the Babe in the manger. They invented the art of giving Christmas presents. Being wise, their gifts were no doubt wise ones, possibly bearing the privilege of exchange in case of duplication. And here I have lamely related to you the uneventful chronicle of two foolish children in a flat who most unwisely sacrificed for each other the greatest treasures of their house. But in a last word to the wise of these days let it be said that of all who give gifts these two were the wisest. O all who give and receive gifts, such as they are wisest. Everywhere they are wisest. They are the magi.”    — O Henry, The Gift of the Magi

Life Sharpening Tip of the Week: Don’t spend so much time getting things done so your children have a perfect Christmas that you don’t spend time with them. Schedule time to spend with your children this Christmas.

This Week’s Challenge: We give gifts at Christmas to honor Jesus our King, not to go into debt making sure everyone has the latest gadget. Give gifts for the right reason, this year, and everything else will fall into place.
