If you like historicals set in exotic locations, you will love this novel set in the wilds of Africa in the 1920s. Lisa Harris did a great job of taking us through Africa and showing us the magnificent sites and danger that lurks there. But there’s danger in New York as well for this young spunky missionary. I loved Lizzie, the main character whose parents were missionaries in Africa. She’s caught between two worlds and doesn’t really feel like she fits in either one. We all can relate to that. I also appreciate her stubbornness about fulfilling the will of God for her life. Her love interest, Andrew, surprised me. I wasn’t sure if I liked him at first, but he grew into the man Lizzie wanted.
