This tragic romance was difficult to read. Lacey’s distraught relationship with her emotionally abusive father broke my heart. Jack’s desire to live for God and do things the right way conflicting with his desire and passion for the love of his life is torrential and shows how strong temptation can be, and I could feel his struggle. Julie Lessman has done it again in writing this Isle of Hope prequel. worthy of a Shakespearean tale of young love gone wrong. Only with God, there is always a glimmer of hope. I won’t tell you how it all works out, but once your finish the last line, make sure to have Unfailing Love, the next in the Isle of Hope series. You want to read it immediately to know what happens next. I highly recommend this book.
