My Review:  ♥  ♥  ♥  ♥

Gabriel, as a small boy, watches his father die in a river while trying to
save someone else. This affects him deeply throughout his whole life. The novel
has a series of characters and stories that help him deal with the tragedy. It’s
a good story, but I would have like to have seen a little more depth. At times,
like in the first chapter when the father dies, I felt like the writer distanced
us from the characters emotions and pain – like we were watching the story
instead of experiencing it. Overall it was good, but it didn’t live up to the
advertising.
